Q#1: Are you a Bay Area Native? and if not, how long have you lived in the Bay? Dregs1: I’m proud to be a product of the city of San Francisco, born and raised.
Q#2: When did you start on the creative path you are currently on? Dregs1: My pops always encouraged me to write. In 6th grade I started writing poetry. 9th grade is when I really started freestyling and writing raps. By 11th grade I was rapping, recording in studios, making beats, and I haven’t stopped. About a year and a half ago I realized that my passion for music & community work went hand in hand so I started to utilize the music as a tool for change.
Q#3: Where do you find your inspiration? Dregs1: Walking/driving/riding public transit through my city, watching movies by the great actors & directors, surrounding myself with positive people, graffiti art, nature, listening to great music, reading and learning about the people and events that helped shaped our society, comic books, and the events in my day-to-day life.
Q#4: What was the first piece of vinyl you ever purchased? Dregs1: SuperDuck Breaks. (your favorite DJ’s favorite break record)
Q#5: Anything else you’d like to share? a joke/quote? Dregs1: Define your own success- don’t live your life based on the standards and expectations of other people. Set your goals, work hard to accomplish them, and don’t let anybody else tell you whether you’ve “made it” or not.
